Piecemeal alterations to this grade I listed hotel had resulted in all the rooms having en-suites by the 1980's but at the cost of the original Georgian interiors. The practice was appointed to design a scheme which reduced the number of bedrooms, eliminated dark, narrow corridors, resulting in bedroom suites and public areas which more closely followed the original rooms.
The works entailed extensive alterations included demolitions, new partitions, mechanical and electrical services and joinery, with period detail. A new bar for the basement dining area was also designed by the practice.
