Originally Aaron Evans were considered suitable to deal with the construction of a new motor dealership on the site but the the client appointed another architect. However, in the absence of a way forward and with the planning authority questioning whether a car dealership was right for this site the client decided to go back to his first choice of architect. The practice designed a solution that would maintain an industrial "feel" but would express the steel frame and create an eye-catching building. It is generally regarded as one of the better examples of contemporary retail architecture in Bath.
