Hallatrow

A private housing development usually involves standard houses at a set distance from the road. Breaking the rules consists of blurring the edges between vehicle and pedestrian with the use of different materials and the creation of houses in a mixture of forms.  The terms "local character" and "sense of place" describe this development and give it an identity which avoids the bland and mediocre.

Designed for and built by Countryside Poperties, this 22 unit scheme won the 1998 RIBA Housing Project Design Award
