Oldfield School, Bath, Science Laboratories

On a wooded, poolside setting the practice decided to create a focal point for pupils en route to and from classes. A generous roof covering above the southern elevation and cantilevered canopies over the side walls create shelter for pupils who may have to wait in the open for classes to begin. This extension to the existing 1960's school buildings was one of the most satisfying buildings the practice has worked on. Involving "the creation of a lot from a little" – which is the nearest the practice comes to a stated design philosophy.
