Calne Library, Wiltshire

The practice was originally appointed in 1989, but recession of the early 90's put paid to plans for the project in a single phase so the Council took on the role of developer with several different partners. The architects remained a constant factor through the development of the town. After the completion of Phase 1 (Bank Side) the Council decided to undertake the final phase of the project and the practice was commissioned to design a new library, retail units and flats. A major part of the project involved the diversion of the River in its path through the town centre, together with new town gardens. British Urban Regeneration Award for Best Practice - RIBA Town & Country Award 2003 - Commended.
